This Unit-based Evaluation of Textbook template is a structured rubric used to review a textbook or a single unit by collecting basic bibliographic details (subject, grade, unit, coordinator, submission date, evaluator) and then guiding a supervisory committee to rate and comment on the quality of the material across four core domains: Curriculum Alignment (fit with intended learning outcomes and reinforcement through activities), Social and Cultural Considerations (consistency with Islamic values, inclusion of persons with disabilities, absence of stereotypes, gender balance, relevance to Jordan, equity, and learner diversity), Instructional Design and Assessment (accuracy, sequencing, real-life examples, problem-solving, group learning, creativity, critical thinking, ICT integration, and assessment approaches and tools), and Technical Design (layout, readability, visuals, navigation, and coordination of text and graphics), with dedicated space for narrative comments—especially where ratings are “Poor” or “Minimal”, and an overall comments section when evaluating the full textbook.
