The calf-fattening project is considered one of the successful and profitable ventures, especially given the availability of feed, suitable environmental conditions, and the relatively low project cost compared to the high profit margins when compared with other projects and business sectors. The Jordanian government is also relying on such projects to achieve local self-sufficiency in meat production. Therefore, the government provides subsidized feed to livestock breeders as a form of support and encouragement for this sector. The project design is based on modern livestock-raising techniques, which result in high productivity and reduced waste of resources. In line with the Economic Modernization Vision, there is a governmental trend in Jordan toward implementing agricultural and livestock projects in Mafraq Governorate, including those related to livestock rearing and calf fattening. For example, the launch of the first agricultural–industrial development project in Mafraq Governorate was announced in November 2024. In addition, there are private farms and projects for cattle rearing and calf fattening in Mafraq (especially in the Khalidiyah area and the Northern Badia). It is also worth noting that Mafraq hosts about 18% of Jordan’s cattle, which indicates a high density of livestock activity (including fattening), and confirms that the environmental conditions are suitable for this project.
