This Seasonal Calendar Template is a practical, one-page tool used in field assessments to map how key livelihood and wellbeing activities change across the year. It helps teams visualize the timing of rainfall, crop cycles (land preparation, planting, harvesting), livestock patterns (milk, sales, births), wild foods, fishing, employment and migration, food purchasing and price fluctuations, hunger/lean seasons, seasonal health risks, housing repairs, and school terms/fees. The template is designed as a simple monthly grid where users list priority activities or sources of food/income, mark when they occur, and note in a “Who?” column whether tasks are typically done by women, men, or both—supporting gender-sensitive analysis and clearer programming decisions.
This template has been used in the field for many years and has been updated year after year; please see the attached sample pages.
