This Multi-Sectoral Swift Assessment Template (SWAT) is a streamlined, field-ready questionnaire designed for rapid, early-stage humanitarian assessments to quickly understand context, population conditions, priority needs, and operational feasibility. It combines core “do no harm” and practical guidance with a structured set of prompts to capture (1) operational constraints such as access, communications, security, and coordination; (2) contextual and population information including host-community dynamics, displacement drivers, population size and movements, and self-identified priority needs; and (3) a sector-by-sector scan of urgent needs and gaps across key areas such as child and youth protection, education, GBV, health, environmental health/WASH, shelter, NFIs, and food—so teams can triangulate information, identify immediate risks, and prioritize response actions efficiently.
